Recently I bought an unlocked Motorola CliqXT cellphone (aka MB 501) in the USA at Best Buy.  When I came to Chile and snapped in my Entel SIM card it would not work.  So a friend called Entel and the engineer there explained to us how to add the Entel network to my phone.  Motorola had assumed I was using Tmobile or AT&T (which is silly since they are selling unlocked phones to foreigners).  But those are American companies.  Here we use Entel, Moviestar, Claro, and Nextel.  I am sharing this information for those of you who are struggling with the same.

The problem is you have to add an Access Point Name (APN) to the smartphone you have purchased in the USA.  Here is how to do it for Entel:

  • Página de inicio: http://wap.entelpcs.cl
  • Nombre de usuario: entelpcs
  • Contraseña: entelpcs
  • Dirección Proxy: 10.99.0.10
  • Puerto de Proxy: 8080
  • Punto de acceso GPRS: bam.entelpcs.cl
